Mastermind Rogue -Being able to redirect your friends in combat *and* get a nasty sneak attack? Sign me up! Divination is another often overlooked choice. Not that spell shaping is bad, but think of the havoc you can do with an Illusionist! You can still cast 8d6 Fireballs at 5th level and make the enemy unsure if the Tiger you conjured was the real thing or a puff of shadow and smoke. Wizard - Choose a school that is not Evocation. My input based on your wish list is to pick one of the following:īattlemaster Fighter - This guy has just enough cool trick moves to keep him from ever falling into the boring "I swing my sword again." routine. Which Class/Subclass do you suggest me to roll? ![]() Cool tricks/moves are also appreciated. Trying to choose a Class that is balanced like: combat (50%), social (25%) and exploration (25%). Maybe a Class that I wont be overwhelmed as an intermediate player. Im not the most active RP player, but not the worst either. I like Damage Dealer Classes, not "support-oriented" (healers or buffers). Classes I dislike: Ranger (dont like the theme), Druid (dont like the theme), Cleric (no healbots for now on haha), Bard (seems overwhelming and Im kinda shy for a bard playstyle). I'll list my preferences so you guys can make your suggestions based on them: For starters, picking my new Class/Subclass. I need some help making this new Character. So the players are gonna create brand new players lvl1. *EDIT: The DM decided not to continue the Curse of Stradh campaign. So I wanna change my Character, make a new one. Even though I have a damage-oriented build, the party sees me as a healbot. Our DM is thinking about resuming the campaign soon, but Im not happy with my level 5 Cleric. However, we ended up "pausing" the campaign like we always do. Last year, I started playing Curse of Strahd with my friend and I rolled as Tempest Cleric. Intermediate Player: Played 3 incomplete 3.5e campaigns (Barbarian, Melee Ranger and Warblade) and 2 incomplete 5e (Vengeance Paladin and Tempest Cleric). Need some help picking a Class/Subclass for a new character mid-campaign. Phandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk Hopefully our group will get a chance to test them out soon.Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse Of course, I haven't seen the new classes in play yet either. And mean Fighter/Barbarian (and/or PrC) types can probably compete on an even basis with warblades. On one of the other ToB threads awhile back I ran some numbers on a warblade spamming Time Stands Still versus a fighter full attacking, and the deficet the fighter needed to cover with his unspent feats wasn't nearly as great as I thought. The warblade is probably less broken than it looks at first glance. Plus since the swordsage recovery method kind of sucks and they can only ready one copy of a manuever, it seems likely they'll burn through their better moves rather quickly - or they'll won't have the chance to use their larger array of manuevers. And Greater Flurry is no small thing either. My monk ended up using pretty much all of his combat abilities at the same time, while the swordsage can generally only run any one of his stances, plus any one of his strikes, plus any one of his boosts at any given moment. While monk abilities are generally less powerful, they easily work in conjunction with each other. There's often a significant opportunity cost to using a manuever since many replace your normal attack action. I guess my main question here is: "What does the WB lose to gain the "Battle" abilities and the maneuvers and stances?" Each is the equivalent to a spell or psionic ability. But these things are not just “sub-“feats. They are very _cool_ abilities, and I can't wait to see 'em in practice. And given my read through, they at least tie the Ftr bonus feats in power. **The maneuvers and stances are what “match” the Ftr bonus feats. Does the Ftr have anything to match this? Feats, I guess. **The "Battle" class abilities are good stuff, but not over-the-top. ![]() Not only can you take the Weapon Specialization feats (which normally only a Ftr can take), but you can shift that Weapon Focus feat to whatever weapon you happen to have on hand. **In some campaigns, Weapon aptitude is huge. ![]() ![]() The tumble skill alone is worth the whole fighter list. **The WB has a better skill list and skill points than the fighter.
